Explosive and powerful, Ocho, is "sexy, athletic choreography…" (Time Out Sydney), showcasing the dancers' virtuosity. Fusing a brutalist industrial dreamscape with a surging electronic score by Nick Wales that features haunting vocals by Aboriginal singer ​Rrawun Maymuru​ of the Mangalili clan, ​Ocho explores​ the infinite connections that exist between us all.

WOOF​ generates variations of collective actions that speak from matters of the heart. In an imagined physical future, stealing from classical dances, romantic paintings and pop culture, a re-invention of community takes place. In dialogue with Clark’s bold musical score, ​WOOF​ relentlessly forges a duality of instability and empowerment, harnessing the fantasy of a post-human collective spirit.

Since the 2010 premiere of Rafael Bonachela’s award-winning 6 Breaths the work has toured to New York, London, Barcelona, the Venice Biennale in Italy and the prestigious Movimentos Festival in Germany. A symphony of dance, music by Italian composer Ezio Bosso and costume design by Josh Goot, this emotive work will take your breath away.

INDance is an annual curated program of innovative dance works created and performed by independent Australian artists. Returning this year from 30 April 2026 – 9 May 2026, the program will feature four compelling new works across two weekends at the Neilson Studio, Sydney Dance Company.

This is a unique opportunity to see conceptual works that push the boundaries of dance and reflect contemporary Australia.

Supported by the Neilson Foundation, this two-week program has been created to provide independent artists with the opportunity to reach new audiences, and to give audiences the chance to see some of Australia’s most evocative dance works.

Artists are selected by an independent panel led by Sydney Dance Company’s Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela.

Tickets and full program to be announced later this year.

 

2026 marks the fifth year of the INDance program. Sydney Dance Company and the Neilson Foundation are proud to champion independent dance makers, providing vital support and a professional platform for new voices to share their work. Over the past four years, INDance has showcased bold, risk-taking performances from a wide range of artists, building an important space for innovation within the Australian dance landscape.
